What are you aiming for this year?
The Bible tells us that we ought to "let love be our greatest aim." Think about what the most loving next step might be when it comes to loving yourself through the choices you make with food. We encourage you to think and pray through what a deeper holiness looks like for you- not only spiritually or emotionally but also physically this year as well.
Be Mindful
1) We don't have to be afraid of particular foods, afraid of calories, or even limit ourselves to unrealistic expectations with our food choices. We simply need to be mindful of our decisions and enjoy the freedom we have in making them. For some of us the most loving thing we can do is stop striving to meet unrealistic standards that the world puts on us. We are not called to be yoked by our decisions we are called to make them from a grateful heart. Embrace your ability to listen to your body's needs- to choose foods and portion sizes that are healthy for you that you enjoy.
Healthy Choices
2) Do you use food as a way to fuel your body instead of just feed it? For example, do you choose to eat whenever food is available without taking into consideration if you're even hungry? Do you plan meals ahead or look up menus before choosing a restaurant? Do you attempt to try new vegetables and fruits? Are you mindful of your portion sizes? Another one of the most loving things we can aim for is to opt for healthier choices in our food. Make a plan and ask for accountability. Write it down in a food journal, or take pictures and keep a food photo album. Healthy habits can become a way of life when you continually choose foods that bring you life and energy. We encourage you to think about honoring God in all ways including taking care of your body- His temple- because "you can't have a spiritual ministry without a physical body."
Regardless of the choices you make to become a holier, healthier you- surround yourself with support as you transition into your next healthy steps! Let's do this in community with Him and with others!
